A brand-new southern Marin Gallery offers great exposure for artists to reach their audience. The call is for Bay Area abstract artists to show their best work. Submit your 2D abstract artworks including mixed media to be judged on technique, unusual color juxtapositions, gestural marks and overall creativity.
This exhibition aims to challenge, excite and inspire viewers while building community.

SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED: August 20, 2022 12:01am

SUBMISSIONS CLOSED: September 16, 2022 11:59pm

NOTIFICATION: October 15, 2022

OPENING RECEPTION: Thursday, November 17, 2022 from 6pm to 8pm

ARTWORK DROP OFF DATE: Sunday, November 13, 2022 10am to 3pm

ARTWORK PICKED UP DATE: Saturday, January 14, 2023 10am to 3pm

COMMISSIONS: GALLERY retains 30% of sales

$35 Fee: for up to 3 images

WHAT TYPE OF WORK IS ACCEPTED

  • Two-dimensional original artworks, including but not limited to framed paintings, stretched paintings, framed works on paper (including drawings, watercolors, pastels, and prints)
  • Two-dimensional includes very low-relief works (4 inches deep or less measured from the wall as hung) including but not limited to framed paintings, fiber, textile or mixed media;
  • We cannot accommodate works that are suspended from the ceiling.
  • Maximum dimensions allowed are 72”x48” or 48”x72” and work cannot exceed 50 pounds.

SUBJECT MATTER

  • Submissions will be evaluated on technique and overall mastery of art principles.
  • The library is a family destination and subject matter must be acceptable.
  • Work must be ready for installation with hanging hardware: wire and d-rings already securely installed on work. (No saw tooth hangers are permitted.)
  • Pieces delivered without appropriate hardware will not be accepted.
  • Proposed art must comply with all other requirements.

DELIVERY AND DISPLAY

  • Artwork delivered must be labeled with the artwork’s title, the artist’s name, and the artist’s contact information (email and phone) securely adhered to the back of the artwork in the lower right-hand corner.
  • Any wrapping (including paper, bubble wrap, and/or other packing materials) must be removed upon delivery.
  • In addition to the physical gallery, all accepted artworks will be displayed in a Web Gallery running concurrently with the show. Artists will be asked to provide artist statements for both the physical and virtual galleries.
  • By submitting artwork, artists agree that photographic images, in whole or in part, may be used by the Library for publicity in various forms including print, online and social media.
  • Accepted work must remain on view for the duration of the exhibition.
  • Any sales will be handled through the Belvedere Tiburon Library Foundation and the Library Foundation will retain 30% of the purchase price. The Belvedere Tiburon Library cannot guarantee any sale of artwork.
